The new interchange on the N2 between Salt Rock and Tinley Manor is moving forward!

The Collins Group, the residential developer behind the project, is currently awaiting the green light from the South African National Roads Agency Limited (Sanral). Geoff Perkins, the managing director of Collins Group, shared at a recent development panel discussion at Manor House that construction could kick off in the fourth quarter of this year if approval goes smoothly. The goal is to complete the interchange by the end of 2025.

Perkins mentioned, “We’ve submitted our detailed design for the N2 south-facing on- and off-ramps to Sanral and are hopeful for a quick approval.”

With an estimated cost of over R100 million, this project promises to significantly enhance local infrastructure. Recently, Collins Group completed the upgrade at the intersection of Salt Rock and Sheffield Beach Roads (P330/P474), adding new traffic lights and slip lanes to improve traffic flow.

Perkins emphasized the importance of these upgrades for the community, noting, “This vital route serves several estates, including Seaton and Lalela. Our commitment to this project underscores our dedication to supporting the local community.”

Sanral’s Eastern Region design and construction manager, Ravi Ronny, confirmed that the agency is working closely with Collins Group to meet the planned construction schedule. “We’ve made great strides in reviewing their design and are nearing the final stages of feedback. While we can’t commit to exact dates yet, we’re working diligently with the developer to move forward,” Ronny said.
